The trend for newlyweds to gain more of a ‘life experience’ whilst on their honeymoon is becoming increasing popular. Despite the Maldives, Mauritius and the Caribbean still being in the top five places to honeymoon, there has been an emerging market of couples verging away from the conventional destinations in search of somewhere more unique.
As couples strive to find the more unusual, most luxurious, quaint and memorable ways to celebrate the start of their lives together, we have seen honeymoons in Lapland becoming increasingly popular over the years. With bedrooms made entirely from snow and ice, boutique hotels in small villages, luxury teepees set amongst snowy woodland, cosy winter cottages overlooking frozen lakes and luxury glass igloos overlooking snowy fells, we have yet to find a reason why couples shouldn’t begin their married lives in a winter wonderland location!
The beauty of a honeymoon in Lapland is that it can be as relaxing or as action packed as desired. The destinations we feature are set in more rural areas, making a natural winter playground to enjoy some of the most exhilarating winter activities imaginable. With snowmobiling, husky safaris, ice karting and parascending over a frozen lake being just a few of the activities on offer, couples can’t fail to go home without everlasting memories to tell their grandchildren in years to come!
There is of course plenty of time left spare for spa treatments and relaxing in the saunas and outdoor hot tubs, waiting for a spectacular sighting of the Northern Lights!
In our eyes, this far outweighs endless hours spent lying on a beach……
