Well this is it - the first, the original - THE ICEHOTEL®.
For those of you who wish to experience all that this magnigicent place has to offer we can tailor make your own ICEHOTEL® adventure. The Torne River runs past the tiny village of Jukkasjarvi in Swedish Lapland. It is a very beautiful and quiet spot for most of the year. However in early winter there is a buzz in the air, a team of snow builders, architects, designers and artists from all over the world garther in the little town because the ICEHOTEL® is taking shape.
The astonishing building constructed out of snow and ice is meticulously desined and built each year from the crystal clear ice from the Torne River and the snow of Kiruna Lapland. As you enter the building you will marvel at the incredible details carved into the structure and the design elements that have been incorporated really do stand the ICEHOTEL® apart from the others, no two years' designs are ever the same. You can walk around the intricately moulded corridors and perhaps even stop for a cheeky cocktail at the ABSOLUT ICEBAR®. The drinks here are served in the famous ice glasses and the entire bar is constructed from ice. It really is one of the most unusual places to spend an evening.
You will be dressed in warm thermal clothing throughout, sleep on thick reindeer skins and are also provided with an Arctic grade sleeping bag which should see off any chills.
The Ceremony
Get married at the world famous ICEHOTEL Ice Chapel for a religious wedding ceremony. For a civil ceremony other areas of the hotel can be used as a perfect setting for your big day. This beautiful building is completely made of ice and provides a truly romantic feel for a winter wedding.
Transport to and from the Ceremony
Choose huskies or Reindeer to pull your wedding sleigh – the decision is yours.
The Celebration
Why not enjoy a celebratory drink in the absolute ice bar before heading to one of the beautifully furnished warm restaurants located across the road from the ICEHOTEL itself.
Wedding Night
Why not spend your first night as newlyweds in one of the amazing art ice suites designed by award winning artists (the Crème de la crème) in the icehotel. These rooms are the centre piece of the guided tours (but don’t worry – after 7pm they are completely private). If you’d like to opt for a warmer option there is the Kaamos hotel rooms, Nordic Chalets or the Northern Lights Hotel Chalet to choose from depending on your budget. All options are bright spacious and decorated in a contemporary Scandinavian style.
