Jeris Hotel and Winter Cottages enjoy an enviable setting overlooking beautiful Lake Jerisjarvi in North West Lapland.

The proximity to the Pallas-Ounas National Park makes it the ideal choice for an active winter holiday in a genuinely unspoilt environment. We get consistently excellent feedback from clients who travel to Jeris - the location is just spectacular and the staff are fantastic. You can choose between delightful winter cottages and en suite hotel rooms.

With an excellent restaurant, a lakeside spa and a fantastic activity programme make this the perfect place to mix comfort with fun-filled and adventurous winter sports.

Day 1: Flights, arrivals and introduction
You will be greeted on arrival at Kittila Airport and transferred to your accommodation. After settling in (you can stay in hotel rooms if you prefer) there will be a welcome dinner in the hotel restaurant.

Day 2: Reindeer farm and Lainio Snow Village
After a welcome meeting with your guide and breakfast you will leave Jeris and head to a traditional Lappish manor house to meet with a local reindeer herder. You will learn about the importance of the reindeer and the lives of the herders before a short reindeer sleigh ride. After lunch you will continue to Lainio Snow Village for a guided tour of the stunning suites and ice restaurant. An incredible first day in Lapland.

Day 3: Snowmobile safari
Your experienced guides will show you how to drive your snowmobile and provide a full safety briefing before you hit the trails. There will be a break for lunch and a chance to try your hand at ice fishing before heading back to Jeris having travelled around 30km.

Day 4: Cross country skiing, snowshoes and Northern Lights
There’s a busy day ahead which starts with an introductory cross country skiing tour. After lunch you switch to snowshoes for a short walk from the hotel. After dinner you depart in a snowmobile pulled sleigh to search for the Northern Lights. Your guides know all the best view points. You can choose to drive your own snowmobile during this safari, see price box for details.

Day 5: Husky safari
A short transfer takes you to the husky farm where you will learn about the life of a sled dog here above the Arctic Circle. You will also be taught how to handle a dog team before taking the reins yourself on a 17km safari lasting approximately 2 hours.

Day 6: Free day
For those people travelling on dates which are 6 nights in duration it is time to say goodbye to Finland. For those staying 7 nights you can fill your free day with a range of additional activities (payable locally) or perhaps return for an overnight stay at Lainio Snow Village.

Day 7: Departure, transfer and flights

Jeris Hotel
The hotel has 27 Scandinavian style en suite bedrooms all of which have a clothes drying cupboard, TV and telephone.

The excellent restaurant serves traditional Finnish dishes as well as international cuisine. The bar, with its open fireplace, is the perfect place to relax before dinner or you can wind down in the lakeside spa pools.

The well being area is ideal after an active day outdoors. You can lie in one of the small heated pools while enjoying views of the snow covered lake or warm up in the real Lappish wood heated smoke sauna. For the really brave, there is an illuminated ice pool.

Jeris Winter Cottages
The cosy winter cottages are located in the woods surrounding the main hotel building. Each cottage has the following: lounge/kitchenette, sauna, shower and toilet room, fireplace, drying cupboard and TV.

Meals are served at the hotel and guests are also able to use the fabulous spa facilities.

in our opinion...

"This is what a winter holiday is all about, spending the day in the wilds of Lapland before returning to a winter cottage, throwing a few logs on the fire and relaxing in a steaming hot sauna before dinner. What I like about these cottages is that they are set in the woods a short walk from the main building, so although it may sound corny, you can actually hear the silence. On one occasion, I returned to my cabin for a nap before my evening meal only to wake up 12 hours later in time for breakfast. Tranquil is the operative word".

"I visited Finland for my honeymoon and both the place and the people were really lovely. They made u..."
