Lainio Snow Village is built and run by our good friend Rami Kurtakko and is located approximately 200km North of the Arctic Circle amongst beautiful woodland. At the Snow Village, you can spend a night in the snow rooms or ice suites, have dinner in the IceBar or enjoy the igloo disco with drinks served in ice glasses. Alternatively you can just marvel at the magnificent art sculpture all around the area.
The Snow Village is located in the western part of Finnish Lapland, in close proximity to Ylläs and Levi ski-resorts, and the international airport of Kittilä.
The ceremony
Ceremonies at Lainio will be held in either the very beautiful and quaint wooden chapel, which is only a short walk from the snow village itself, or the spectular Ice Chapel where all interior furnishings are made from snow and ice.
The chapel will be decorated according to your needs and wishes and can seat up to approximately 20 people. Photographs can be taken in both chapel and snow village after the ceremony.
Transport to and from the ceremony
Reindeer Sleigh
The reindeer herdman will assist you onto the sleigh and guide the reindeer to the chapel the ride will take approximately 5 – 10 minutes.
Snowmobile
The length of the drives can be between 1km to 5km and you will be provided with overalls, helmet and gloves for the ride. Before setting off, proper driving and safari instructions will be given to you by our safari guide. A valid driving license will be required.
Snowmobile Sleigh
Instead of a normal car or mini bus as a form of transportation to the chapel the whole group can arrive to the SnowVillage in a unique way. You can order a snowmobile sleigh ride to the SnowVillage for you and your guests. This ride is usually arranged from the YllasJarvi area and is approximately 45 minutes. The price includes the pickup fromm accommodation to the safari house, warm overalls, helmets, boots and gloves.
Husky Sleigh
There are two options with regard to the husky ride to and from the chapel. There is a short journey which will last approximately 5 minutes or alternatively you can be taken to the Husky Farm located 5km away from the chapel, this ride will take approximately 15 to 25 minutes.

Ice Bar and Restaurant
Lainio’s Ice Bar and restaurant is exceptional and breathtaking. If you are looking for a truly unique and different wedding reception then the Ice Restaurant has it all. This place is perfect for large scale parties where you can party in your very own ice disco or enjoy a luxurious sit down meal. Whatever your tastes we can tailor a wedding to remember at Lainio.
Warm Log Restaurant
A cosy log restaurant situated in the SnowVillage provides you with specialities of Lapland. This venue is perfect if you're not such a fan of the cold and would like to celebrate in a traditional Lappish environment.
Fireworks
Hearts in the sky! Fireworks are a spectacular way to highlight your wedding and surprise your guests in an unexpected way. The professional shoes are set-up and made by trained and authorized professionals. In order to acquire all necessary permits, fireworks must be booked no later than 3 weeks in advance.

Luxury Teepee
Spend your wedding night in the quirky, original and beautifully furnished tepee. The tepee consists of an upstairs bedroom, living area, kitchenette, toilet and bathroom with Jacuzzi bath, sauna, large shower and shimmering northern lights in the ceiling. And to top it all off a large outdoor hot tub. What more could you want?

An overnight in one of the bedrooms or suites is an unforgettable experience.
Within close proximity of Lainio is the resort of Levi. We recommend a central hotel here for wedding guests accompanying you on your trip.
Snowshoe excursion
Snowshoeing is a new way of enjoining snow. In the beginning of the excursion the guide will show you how to use modern, up to date snowshoes and give you some tips before exploring the nature.
Duration: 1.5 hours.
Snowmobile safari
This is a pure driving safari. Two hours of snowmobiling through the snowy forests and across the frozen lakes is great fun for beginners as well as for experienced drivers. There will be a couple of short stops during the drive.
Duration: 2 hours. Approximately 30km.
Reindeer safari
This reindeer safari starts from SnowVillage. Reindeer will take you to the nearby forest where you
can listen to the quietness and enjoy the nature. On this safari you will be sitting on a two-seater
sleigh while reindeer herder will guide the ride. Before heading back to SnowVillage you will be
offered hot drinks with snacks while learning about reindeer.
Duration: 2 hours.
10 km husky safari
Siberian huskies are waiting for you at SnowVillage. They are filled with energy and excitement when they hear guests arriving. Soon you will share the excitement with the dogs and after a musher has given you driving instructions, you are ready to have a go with your own team of paw power. During the pause at a small, cosy husky farm you can have a cup of hot drinks and have a snack inside a warm hut. After the break you continue with the huskies back to SnowVillage. This way
mushers will introduce you to the life of a husky dog and afterwards you can return home with new memories.

Evening snowmobile safari
This relaxing night snowmobile safari takes you under the Lappish night sky. Enjoy the journey to a traditional Lappish hut where you will be offered hot drinks and snacks around open fire. While cooking a sausage you’ll hear stories about Lapland and the mystical northern lights – some facts, some fiction. Left amazed by the tales you’ll head back and if you are lucky, the lights will come out to play.
Duration: 3 hours.
Ice fishing experience & lunch
Frozen lake, fresh air, scooter driving and a lunch break. After receiving helmets, gloves and overalls you will drive down to the lake, drill a whole through the ice and try to catch a fish or more. When fishing is finished you will have a tasty lunch together with a guide before driving back to SnowVillage. What a wonderful way to enjoy the day – not to mention the new fishing experience you can tell to your friends.

Overnight safari to SnowVillage from Levi
This is one of the most popular excursions! Everything is included: transfers, dinner and overnight stay. Only arrival itself to the magically illuminated SnowVillage by snowmobiles through the frosty forest is an unforgettable experience. Once you have enjoyed a dinner in the ice restaurant you will be introduced to an overnight in snow hotel (double room, 2 persons / room). After breakfast in the morning the safari continues back to the safari house. Add one adventure on to your
